רס"ן א׳, מפקד פלוגה ביחידת מגלן, הגיע לשדרות באותו הרגע ששמע על החשד למחבלים. מיד עם החשד, נסע א' למקום באופן עצמאי.
בדרך לנקודה פגש לוחם מג״ב ואיחד איתו כוחות. כאשר א' ראה למולו שתי בנות שמתחבאות לא חשב פעמיים, הוא הביא להן את המפתחות לאוטו שלו ואמר להן: ״קחו אותו ותסעו מפה״.
רס"ן א׳ התחיל לבצע סריקות במושב יכיני שם נתקל במחבלים. בהיתקלות ניטרל י' שניים מהמחבלים, א׳ נפצע מכדור בידו ובבטנו וכעת הוא מאושפז במצב יציב.
